Project Overview

Singola is an AI-integrated lounge chair designed as a response to the overstimulated, fast-paced lives of urban individuals. Developed for Baleri Italia, the project explores how furniture can provide not only physical comfort but also mental refuge—particularly for those who live alone and seek moments of silence and self-connection after long workdays. The concept is rooted in themes of solitude, mindfulness, and digital detox. Equipped with sensors that monitor the user's heart rate, Singola creates an ambient environment by responding with subtle changes in light and sound. As the user relaxes or becomes stressed, the system dynamically adjusts the atmosphere to support calmness and deep breathing. This interactive feedback loop transforms the chair into more than just a seat—it becomes a companion for mental restoration. Structurally, the chair is built around a framework composed of four individual elements made from 10 mm plywood, offering a warm yet precise wooden expression. These segments are connected by 3 mm stainless steel plates, creating a rhythmic architectural detail while ensuring strength and durability. The seating and backrest areas are padded with foam and finished with fabric upholstery, delivering both visual softness and ergonomic comfort. The armrests and legs are crafted from metal tubing, coated in Jet Black RAL 905 for a sleek, technical aesthetic. Additional surface options such as Chrome CR and White Aluminium RAL 9006 are included to support a broader material palette, consistent with Baleri Italia's blend of expressive design and rational craftsmanship. Singola is not merely a piece of furniture—it is a ritual object. It offers its user a carefully designed space to slow down, disconnect, and embrace the power of solitude in a hyperconnected world.
